Take the World, but Give Me Jesus

My life I observe has been the constantly chasing for gratification, you can call me a hedonist. I want to view my life as pleasurable, so I chase that which pleases me. At times I have been deceived into thinking some object of ‘pleasure’ will please me and I totally come up dry and unsatisfied. My inability to be pleased still drove me to assiduously search out for fulfillment. I grew up in church and heard Jesus could do it. But I refused to believe it for so long. Until I came to a dead end. I came to a place where I knew living for His glory was the only thing worth living for…

Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fade but the word of our God will stand forever.”

I found the Words of God, or rather they found me. Jesus pursued me because He loves me.

For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 31:11-14 ESV)

I titled this blog, “Take the World and Give me Jesus” based off the song by Ascend the Hill

Take the world, but give me Jesus,
All its joys are but a name;
But His love abideth ever,
Through eternal years the same

Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Sweetest comfort of my soul;
With my Savior watching over me,
I can sing though billows roll

Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Let me view His constant smile;
Then throughout this life’s long journey
He will lead me all the while

Take the world, but give me Jesus.
In His cross my trust shall be,
Till, with clearer, brighter vision,
Face to face my Lord I see!

So take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus

Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
Pledge of endless life above!

Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
Pledge of endless life above!

So take the world, but give me Jesus
So take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus

And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:17 ESV)

I am alive because Jesus speaks life. He is the Resurrection and the Life, He speaks life into my dry bones and my stone heart and I live. God has drawn me to Himself, because I am made in His image, He wanted to possess my whole being!
He purchased me
He set me apart
He gave me gifts
He gave me purpose in my pain
There are those who mock Jesus as being a crutch, they are only avoiding the truth, because they lean on nothing, but I lean on the EVERLASTING ARMS. Safe and secure from all alarms.
Jesus is my King

I don’t want the world, It is passing away. I want Jesus, He lasts longer, sure thats a good reason, but even better than that. He GENUINELY, SACRIFICIALLY, DEEPLY CARES!

The world totally doesn’t. They don’t know love, because God is love. So therefore they can’t know how to care.

Education can’t fix it
More dough just leads to more sin,
Medicine is temporary
the government seems so thin,
with all these weighty problems,
they ain’t shrinking, they just growing,
Who is adequate to save us?
How about He who knew no sin!
