In mid-March during one of my late night studying escapades, I was wrapping my studies up, checking Facebook one last time before I jumped in the shower. I came across this post by Gregory Shane Morris and I learned something new that had a huge impact on my soul. I think God is both beautiful and brilliant and this is something I’ve never thought of before.
We celebrate the Sabbath every Sunday, when the Gathering of the people of God happens in churches across the world. We celebrate that Jesus rested. He is Lord of the Sabbath–our Sabbath rest. Jesus Christ has risen indeed and he is the New Adam.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. Colossians 1:18.
I love how the song ends.
“He said that it was good,
and the seventh day he blessed it,
God rested.
The sun went down.
The sabbath faded.
The holy done was done
and all creation waited….”
It ends pointing forward, there is more to the story. Jesus is alive, anticipating New life. The most important event in the universe. True, Good, and Beautiful.
Thank you God for sending your Son!
