“One must divert attention from Jesus to justify violence in Christianity. A strict adherence to Jesus’ teachings simply allows no basis for violence. By contrast, one must divert attention from Muhammad to argue that Islam is a religion of peace, since he says that a Muslim who does not fight in Jihad or at least express a desire to fight is a hypocrite.” -Nabeel Qureshi – No God but One: Allah or Jesus?
On October 16, 2020, a teacher in Paris was beheaded at a University for showing a cartoon of Muhammad to students. “The attacker later claimed responsibility in a Twitter post, ACTU17 said. The post reportedly included a photo of the victim and a message to French President Emmanuel Macron, saying he had executed the victim for belittling Mohammad.” You can read more about this incident at this link.
This is a picture of true Islam. Hatred for “evildoers.” Hatred is manifested supremely in murder. People in our “inclusive” culture often accuse Christianity of hate, but what does Jesus have to say about the treatment of enemies. Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:43-48 ESV
Now Christians are often accused of hatred for merely disagreeing with someone today. But we aren’t the ones who teach or even practice beheading someone for making fun of Jesus. That’s Muslims. The Islamic religion teaches the advancement of Jihad, and defending the honor of the prophet Muhammad. What is Jihad?
Jihad–Literally means ‘to strive’ or ‘to exert to the utmost.’ In Islamic parlance it signifies all forms of striving, including armed struggle, aimed at making the Word of Allah prevail. Jihad strives with a motive of hatred & and a goal of destruction of their enemies. If hatred is such a strong motivator, how come we keep hearing that Islam is a “religion of peace?”
Peace and Hate cannot coexist. What does the Qu’ran say?
William Lane Craig, when comparing Islam & Christianity, comes up with a helpful list from the Qu’ran about Allah’s hatred for sinners:
According to the Quran, God does not love sinners. This fact is emphasized repeatedly and consistently like a drumbeat throughout the pages of the Qur’an. Just listen to the following passages:
“God loves not the unbelievers” (III.33)
“God loves not the impious and sinners” (II.277)
“God loves not evildoers” (III. 58)
“God loves not the proud” (IV. 37)
“God loves not transgressors” (V. 88)
“God loves not the prodigal” (VI. 142)
“God loves not the treacherous” (VIII.59)
“God is an enemy to unbelievers” (II. 99)
Over and over again the Qur’an declares that God does not love the very people whom the Bible says God loves so much that He sent His Son to die for them!
Now this may seem paradoxical in light of the Qur’an’s calling God “al-Rahman al-Rahim”–the All-Merciful–until you realize that according to the Qur’an what God’s mercy really cashes out to is that if you believe and do righteous deeds, then God can be counted on to give you what you have earned, plus a bonus. Thus, the Quran promises,
Work and God will surely see your work. (9. 105)
Every soul shall be paid in full for what it has earned. (2. 282)
Those who believe and do deeds of righteousness and perform the prayer and pay the alms–their wage awaits them with the Lord. (2. 278)
According to the Qur’an God’s love is thus reserved only for those who earn it. It says,
To those who believe and do righteousness, God will assign love. (19. 97).
Why do these lies persist? Islamic peace is a lie that continues to persist (in the West) because of the Neo-Marxist ideas like Critical Theory, which teach that the hegemonic structure of Western society is evil because of its Christian foundation. It teaches that there is no such thing as absolute truth. And that all cultures and societies are morally equivalent, including the culture that says, “if you make fun of my prophet, off with your head.” Morally equivalent, right?
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Moral relativism allows for these kinds of incidents to go completely under the radar in our culture and not face massive public outrage. These lies persist because the base of so many people in our culture has been placed in their feelings and not in fact; in the desire to avoid offending others and not in telling the truth. We have to be truth-tellers. Christianity provides a base for telling the truth. A religious & moral base. Because the truth is not a mere ideal to strive towards, but it is a Person (John 14:6). The truth is this: Islam is dangerous and deadly and we in the West continue to allow it to persist because we deny objectivity and rationality. We deny a moral framework to truly call these actions evil. France is stuck in this predicament because it’s secular humanism. It cannot outright deny these things, because of the ideas it has adopted in its own culture.
The overflow of these postmodern ideologies, pumped through our cultural institutions (the media, the university, Hollywood, etc.) will drown Western society and lead to its destruction–hopefully not through the advancement of Islam in the West. How does one address this type of evil?
The answer to this hatred is the love of God.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The love of Christ will change the Muslim that is advancing the cause of Jihad and change the Postmodernist who also doesn’t have a livable worldview. The sacrificial love demonstrated by Christ on the cross provided the way for all people to know God and have the entirety of their sin judged by the wrath of God. It is our base. Our firm foundation is the Love of God in Christ Jesus. And true peace comes when we are justified by grace as a gift from Him.
The lies of Islamic peace will cease to persist in our culture when we adopt a biblical worldview, then we can confront it for what it truly is. A religious system that doesn’t guarantee salvation, that has a false view of holiness, sin, righteousness, judgment, forgiveness, and salvation. It is a religious system that is fatalistic and ultimately cannot bring man the peace that he so desperately needs.
Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
True peace is found in the Prince of Peace–the Lord Jesus Christ. May all Muslims, and all people everywhere seek and find Him!
